Thinking of visiting Lake Como? Here’s how my trip went in this stunning Italian destination!

Lake Como is one of the most breathtaking lakes in the world. Not just because of how it looks, but also because it’s actually one of the deepest lakes in all of Italy! The grandeur of it is enough to leave anyone speechless. When one of my favorite clients had just returned from there and told me that it was quite literally the most beautiful place she had ever visited, I knew that I had to go check it out for myself!

It had actually been on my bucket list for years. I just needed that little nudge to make it there. The second I got to the Lake, I knew that it was one of the best decisions I had ever made! I stayed in vibrant Bellagio. The location is absolutely perfect — right on the strip with plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping options nearby! My favorite thing about this area was that there was a lot to do within walking distance. And the views from my front porch were breathless!

With what little free time I had I spent eating delicious Italian food at locally owned restaurants, indulging myself while window-shopping through elegant stores that were everywhere and walking through the amazing little streets. That alone made the trip worth it, to be honest, but that wasn’t really why I was there. It was the lake. So I had to start there.

I kayaked my first morning, and what a beautiful start to the day! It was such an incredible experience that I’ll never forget. The water felt like silk as we glided across it and I couldn’t stop looking around mesmerized by the surrounding mountains and views. While it wasn’t my first time kayaking, it was my first time kayaking in such deep waters. The lake goes 1,345 feet deep, so that alone ups the risk factor a little bit and makes it even more of an adventure. Throughout the day, we learned about the history of Lake Como with our guide, who was just full of information. And if someone knows me, they know that I love learning about the lands I’m in, and well, let’s just say it was a day full of learning and laughter, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

The next activity I did was a boat ride where I got to see some lavish villas situated by the lake- it was truly astonishing. We boated past Richard Branson’s villa and the opulent villa on my favorite show ‘Succession.’ We stopped for lunch afterwards, and I had delicious lemon ravioli- one of my favorite dishes! While there, I met new friends, including a couple who lives in Evergreen, Colorado- where I happen to live! It’s always great making new connections like this while travelling. In fact, one of the reasons why I love exploring new places is because of all the different people you get to meet from all walks of life. And don’t worry about travelling solo either- more often than not, you’ll find yourself meeting plenty of other friendly tourists along the way.

I visited the popular Grand Hotel Tremezzo, which is located in the heart of Lake Como. This 5-star luxury hotel offers all visitors stunning views of the lake from their room windows. However, eight rooftop suites offer guests panoramic views and outdoor Jacuzzis! I personally loved the outdoor floating pool (located directly on the lake) and the bar area with sand- giving off major vacation vibes.

The hotel offers two outdoor pools, a tennis court, and five on-site restaurants. You can also take the ferry to Bellagio and Varenna in just 15-20 minutes. Since I’m a preferred partner, I had the opportunity to upgrade my stay with a free room upgrade, complimentary daily breakfast and a $100 resort credit. And since I came for the experience, you know that I made sure to rack in as much as I possibly could! What’s even better is that I can VIP your stay too! All in all, this is THE place to stay for a truly special Lake Como experience.

After all of that, I visited Varenna — and it was super cute! I loved the views boating in and enjoyed walking around this quaint fishing village. It’s certainly a lot quieter and more peaceful than Bellagio. For dinner, I ate a delicious Italian meal overlooking the water. There’s no way it gets better than that!

I would recommend you spend at least a couple of nights in Lake Como to truly experience all it has to offer and take in the stunning views of the lake and do a bit of bird watching (they’ve got 70 different species of birds in the area!). But with all of that though, don’t forget to schedule some time just to relax too. The best part about Lake Como is the fact that you can speed up, or slow down, exactly how you want to. You’ve got water sports for days and multiple seaside villages to explore, but also have the option to relax and have a true luxury vacation in charming Italy. So at the end of the day, it totally depends on how you want to travel. I fully enjoyed my visit to Lake Como and I cannot wait to go back!
